Hope this post finds you well and enjoying your week. It is hard to believe how fast this year has gone and that we are very quickly heading towards Christmas and the mad rush to finish all of the Christmas shopping.
The Spellbinders Merry Mug & Circle Delights Collection by Nichol Spohr is a versatile set of dies that allows you to create beautiful Christmas tags or ornaments for your Christmas tree. The collection includes Merry Mug Creations Etched Dies, Festive Ornaments Etched Dies, Santa's Festive Circle Crew Etched Dies, Whimsical Winter Critters Etched Dies, and Santa’s Sippin’ Sayings Clear Stamp Set.
With this collection, you can easily die cut different colored cardstock to make unique and festive tags, ornaments and Christmas cards. Today, I'll just focus on Christmas tags.
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary materials. You will need:
- Spellbinders Festive Ornaments Etched Dies
- Spellbinders Santa's Festive Circle Crew Etched Dies
- Cardstock in various colors
- White Glitter cardstock
- Gold Mirror cardstock
- A die-cutting machine
- Double sided tape
- Gina K Designs - Connect Glue
- Ribbon or twine
- Optional: Embellishments such as glitter, sequins, or pom-poms
Step 2: Choose Your Design
Take a look at the different dies included in the Merry Mug & Circle Delights Collection and decide which design you want to use for your Christmas tags or ornaments. There are various options, including mugs, circles, and decorative elements. For today's tags I used the Spellbinders Festive Ornaments Etched Dies and Spellbinders Santa's Festive Circle Crew Etched Dies.
Step 3: Die Cut the Cardstock
Place your chosen die on top of the cardstock and run it through your die-cutting machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. Repeat this step for each tag or ornament you want to create, using different colored cardstock for each element on your tag or ornament. For my tags I used white glitter, black, yellow, orange, as well as different shades of red, brown and teal cardstock.
Step 4: Assemble the Tags or Ornaments
Once you have all your die-cut pieces, it's time to assemble the tags or ornaments. Use glue to attach the different elements together, layering them to create dimension and visual interest. You can also add embellishments like glitter, sequins, or pom-poms to add a special touch to your tags. I wanted to add a red pom-pom for Rudolph's nose, but I couldn't remember where I put them.
The tags are very easy to put together and I have included images of the pieces needed to complete 4 of the tags in the main image. Spellbinders also include instructional sheets that can be downloaded. You can find the Spellbinders Festive Ornaments Etched Dies instructions here and the Spellbinders Santa's Festive Circle Crew instructions here. (Spellbinders have started to include instructions for putting some of their dies together and these instructions can be found on the individual products page on Spellbinders website.)

Step 5: Add a Ribbon or Twine
Once your tags are all assembled, add different ribbons or twine to match the colour of your cardstock or your Christmas wrapping paper. You can do this easily by using the included die to die-cut ornament toppers. Make sure the ribbon or twine is securely attached so that it can hang from the Christmas tree or be added onto a gift.
Step 6: Personalize and Enjoy!
Finally, personalize your Christmas tags or ornaments by adding names, messages, or other decorative elements. You can use a marker, stamps, or even print out personalized labels. I have made a range of tags above using the Spellbinders Festive Ornaments Etched Dies, Spellbinders Santa's Festive Circle Crew Etched Dies, and Spellbinders Whimsical Winter Critters Etched Dies. Once they are ready, hang them on your Christmas tree or attach them to your gifts for a festive and personalized touch.
With the Spellbinders Merry Mug & Circle Delights Collection, you can easily create stunning Christmas tags or ornaments that will impress your friends and family. Get creative with different colors, designs, and embellishments to make each tag or ornament unique. You can also include the tags or ornaments on your Christmas cards and my next blog post will look at ways to do this.
